The State Quality Control Center of Medicine (CECMED) in Cuba was recognized as reference authority for Las Americas after strict evaluation.

That condition was announced in this capital by the regional advisor of Control of the Panamerican Health Organization (PHO) Jose Daniel Peña Ruz.

The condition allowed PHO and the WHO considered CECMED a center with the highest standards worldwide.

Those regulations go from authorization for commercialization and distribution of medicines, its control and production, until monitoring of the distribution process and watchfulness in front of possible adverse effects during its use.

Peña emphasized that CECMED, founded in 1989 as national medicine control authority is made up of a good control system, guarantee for the population that the medicines received are safety, efficient and of good quality.

The director of this institution Rafael Perez pointed out at Granma newspaper that the guarantee mentioned contribute to raise even more the level of security and confidence in the evaluation of the Cuban products of the pharmaceutical and bio-technological industry.
