Scientific aide of the State Council of Cuba, Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, desbribed as very positive a visit paid to this country to boost exchanges in the field.
In remarks to Prensa Latina before leaving for Cuba, he appreciated the dialogs with high Chinese leaders, including Vice Premier Liu Yandong.
According to Castro Diaz-Balart, there is a high level of technological cooperation between the two countries as both are undergoing very similar, parallel political processes aimed at advancing in reforms of economic growth based on innovation and creative spirit.
In this re4gard, he recalled that the Communist Party of China concluded recently its plenary session with the approval of several proposals of development of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) aimed at advancing in national development, including doubling the levels of the gross domestic product of year 2010 and the per capita income of urban and rural residents by 2020 through the promotion of a more balanced, inclusive and sustainable development.
He extolled the promotion in China of innovation as the core of development for the next five years, and said all high level meetings were characterized by the interest and commitment by the two governments, state-run entities and scientific institutions to increase, through concrete actions, the bilateral collaboration in the fields of science, specially in nanotechnology.
Cuba gives priority to nanosciences and nanotechnology as strategic areas for scientific, business development amid the economic reforms promoted by the Government, said Diaz-Balart.
He added that the strategy of a future nationwide plan for nanotechnology in Cuba would be to join leading nations in the field in Latin America in 2015-2020.
During his visit, Castro Diaz-Balart and his entourage visited scientific institutions in this capital, including the Nano-science and Nanotechnology Center of China and the National Meteorological Center.
The Cuban scientist highlighted the support of the National Committee of Development and Reform of the Ministry of Sciences and Technology of China so that Cuba applies and have access, with concrete projects, to the fund of 35 billion USD created by China for Latin America.
