Cuba’s CDR Congress to Analyze Economic Recovery

The role played by the Committees in Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in supporting the economy, services and food programs will be a top focus of debates at the organization's Seventh Congress to take place this weekend.
One thousand delegates and two hundred guests will gather on December 13 to 14 at the Havana Convention Center for the Congress, said Juan Jose Rabilero Fonseca, national coordinator of the CDRs, as reported by Granma.
Rabilero said discussions will include resource saving, community health programs and the recovery of raw materials for recycling, especially paper and cardboard.
The CDR coordinator added that an assessment will be made on the political work of the organization, including new methods being used to combat corruption, crime, and other illegalities and social indiscipline.
The delegates will also exchange experiences related to civil defense efforts to minimize the effects of hurricanes on the Cuban economy as well as the efforts being made to deal with the damage.
The CDR's Congress was postponed twice due to the hurricanes that hit the island over the past three months.
