Details Arranged in Matanzas for Cuban International Book Fair

The director of the Provincial Book Center (CPL) of Matanzas, Julio Alpízar, said today that details are being arranged so that the International Book Fair is at the level of the Athens of Cuba.
 
Alpízar told Prensa Latina that the XXIV Book Fair will have as main scenario the historic center of this city, with a broad cultural movement since the nineteenth century and located 100 kilometers to the east of Havana.
 
This edition will begin in Havana the coming 12 February and will then continued to be held throughout the island.
 
India will be the country guest of honor, and the event will be dedicated to Olga Portuondo and Leonardo Acosta, National Awards in Social Sciences and Literature, respectively.
 
Alpízar mentioned as venues to present works Casa de la Memoria Escénica, Museums of Art and Palacio de Junco, and the building that houses the territorial branch of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
 
"We have arranged that the traditional children's ward be located in a more open space and the presentation of two iconic groups dedicated to theater for children: "Papalote" and "Estaciones", said CPL director.
 
The general program includes tributes to the group "Teatro D'Sur" and its director, Pedro Vera, for its 35 years of artistic life; the designer of "Ediciones Matanzas", Johan Trujillo, and the composer and singer Marta Valdes.
 
Meetings with writers, exhibitions, talks, book launches, presentations of troubadours, and poet readings will be part of this edition of the International Book Fair.
