Officials in charge of the National Program for Basic Literacy Teaching in El Salvador and representatives of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba were the first to pay tribute today to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
They arrived early at the Cuban embassy in this capital to express, on the condolence book, their sorrow for the physical loss of the Cuban figure, 'who led with nobility the first socialist revolution in Latin America, faced with the most powerful imperialist country in the history of mankind.'
Coordinator of the basic literacy teaching program in the department of Sonsonate, Jose Adolfo Sanchez told the news agency Prensa Latina that the love and affection expressed by the Cuban people to Salvadorians, when contributing to their education led him to sign the condolence book.
That is the legacy of Fidel, who took interest in guaranteeing the essential rights not only of Cubans, but also of many people in the world, he remarked.
Fidel's work in many areas and particularly in teaching basic literacy is the most important gift from Cuba to mankind, he said.
'Fidel is one of the most important leaders in History, is the incarnation of a true revolutionary man,' he asserted.
While expressing gratitude, Adolfo Sanchez recalled that in his country, 59 municipalities have been declared Free of Illiteracy, thanks to Cuban advisory and the adjustment of the Cuban method Yes I Can to the Salvadorian program.
The official added that the idea was to declare the country free of that scourge by the end of Salvador Sanchez Ceren's term of office and undoubtedly, it would be possible, thanks to the Cuban support, characterized by the spirit of solidarity inculcated by Fidel.
