FITCuba Ratified Tourism Attraction of This Island

The XXXIV International Tourism FITCuba 2014 ratified this week the development achieved by this sector and the attraction of the so-called smokeless industry on this island, experts considered.
The event-from May 6 to 10- met the expectations of professionals from different parts of the world, who enjoyed great recreations and were introduced to new opportunities for the future.
Meliá Hotels International, within the context of this exhibition announced the opening of a new facility by next November, the Meliá Jardines del Rey Hotel, located in Cayo Coco, Ciego de Ávila.
Company executives also announced that special summer trip packages are already available to the public, targeting customers with the most diverse tastes.
This year Meliá has the aim of providing complementing offers that go beyond the usual sun and beach tourism, for which new promotional packages that encourage visitors to discover other richness of Cuba and its culture are brought to the table.
Another exclusive offer for summer will be the opening of the section The Level, at Meliá Varadero Hotel.
According to its sponsors, this is a priviledged area with seven suites with sea view and 63 rooms of high comfort, VIP lounge bar and a la carte international cuisine, among other benefits.
FITCuba 2014 drew the attention of major Spanish executives interested in consolidating business with the island. These include Gabriel Subias, managing director of Grupo Barceló; Joaquín Janer, CEO of BlueBay; Gabriel Escarrer, chairman of Meliá Hotels International; and Simón Pedro Barceló, co-chairman of Barceló Group for America.
This year the guest of honor was France, from where no less than 96 thousand tourists come to this archipelago each year.
According to sources of this industry, Cuba has 60 thousand hotel rooms in the highest categories belonging to more than 300 facilities located nationwide.
For several years, the nation has served over two million foreign tourists and hopes that figure to rise to three million in 2014.
