The case of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the United States is an expression of more than 50 years of irrational White House policy on Cuba.
Cuban Students Hold Online Peace Forum
Alicia Jrapko, coordinator of the International Committee to Free the Five in the US territory, made these remarks to Prensa Latina from California as Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez marked 12 years of imprisonment.
"What they have done and continue to do in prison has always been guided by the noblest human feelings," Jrapko stated.
"We have appreciated that all these years, the way they have behaved in the face of adversity, the communication they have established with friends from all over the world," she said.
She praised "the treatment they give and receive from other prisoners, the way they fight for their freedom and that of their brothers in those jails."
Jrapko noted her admiration for the relatives of the Cuban Five, "because I know they have risen to the occasion and have taken the lead in this battle."
