The General Secretary of the Farabundo Marti Front for National Liberation (FMLN), Medardo Gonzalez, today described the blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba for more than 50 years as anachronistic.
"The economic, trade and financial blockade on the island and its people is something that there would be not exist, the political leader told Prensa Latina.
Gonzalez stressed he admires a lot Fidel Castro, the leaders of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), and the Cuban people, for the capacity they have had for decades to face the blockade.
Also for being capable of creating, making progresses in the human, scientific, economic development, and staying open to the world.
"I want to welcome the Resolution "Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba," to be voted on at the UN this month, he stressed.
The economic, trade and financial blockade on Cuba has caused, at current prices during all those years, damages valued at $116.880 billion USD.
