The governments of France and Cuba work to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, which share historical and cultural ties.
There is a long-standing relationship between the two nations, Matthias Fekl, French Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad said in an interview published today by the newspaper L'Humanite.
Fekl highlighted the existence of economic and cultural ties. There are intellectuals and artists who embody today those strong cultural relations, for example Raul Paz, he added.
Cuba is engaged in an updating process of its economic system, including important issues such as the foreign investment law and its plans to move to a single currency. Cuba is also immersed in emblematic projects such as the Special Development Zone in Mariel, where French companies are participating, he said.
Fekl underlined that both countries has links in many areas such as tourism, energy, agriculture. There has also been cooperation in the field of biotechnology and wide-ranging cultural relations, he added.
