Grenada's Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Peter Charles David is begining an official visit to Cuba this Monday at the invitation of his counterpart Felipe Perez Roque.
The visit is aimed at fostering the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Grenada, reports Granma daily.
During his stay in Cuba, Peter Charles David will hold official talks with Perez Roque and other top-government leaders of the island. He will also meet with Grenadian students training in the island.
U.S Senator Urges Revision of Sanctions on Cuba HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (acn) The top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Richard Lugar, said the time is right for re-evaluating U.S sanctions on Cuba. Indiana's Republican Senator's opinions are attached to a report that will be released this Monday, said AFP according to a Granma report. This could boost a discussion about the failed 50 year U.S policy to isolate Cuba, said the French news agency.
The White House has imposed a full economic blockade on Cuba since 1962. However, "the report due out Monday stops short of recommending an end to the US embargo (blockade)," the Washington Post noted.
The same source says Richard Lugar supports lifting the Bush administration's travel restrictions and remittances to Cuba, as well as restoring bilateral cooperation on drug interdiction and migrations. The Senator also backs allowing Cuba to buy US agricultural products on credit.
