Vice President, Jafeth Cabrera, visited the Cuban embassy and expressed his deep sorrow over the death of the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

After signing the book of condolences yesterday, the current acting president of Guatemala acknowledged the leadership qualities of the Cuban Commander-in-Chief.

Cabrera recalled some personal experiences with Fidel and expressed the gratitude of the Guatemalan government for the contribution and undisputed support that Cuba, under the leadership of its commander-in-chief, has historically provided this Central American nation.

Prior to his visit to the Cuban embassy, the acting president of Guatemala sent a letter, in which he expressed his sorrow and that of the Guatemalan people for the death of the hero.

'I wish to express on behalf of the Guatemalan people our deepest condolences for the irreparable loss of the great Latin American revolutionary leader Commander Fidel Castro Ruz,' the text states.

He also said that Cubans have maintained diplomatic relations with our country, supporting us in many aspects of social development, but mainly in education and health.

'We urge the Cuban people to maintain the legacy Fidel has left,' concludes the note, signed by Cabrera.
