The international conference on Haiti''s situation that will take place on Wednesday at the UN headquarters should also focus on the rehabilitation and the institutional development of this devastated country apart from the indispensable financial aid it needs to be reconstructed.
On Tuesday, the attention is focused on the numbers related to the aid this nation requires to pave the way of its material refoundation.
Head of the he United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti Edmond Mulet warned about this situation on Tuesday and pointed out that the strengthening of the institutions in Haiti is one of the main priorities in the process of national reconstruction.
The UN representative highlighted that Haitian authorities are working on calling elections before 2010 ends. The legislative elections were supposed to take place in February but were cancelled due to the tragedy.
Representatives from more than one hundred countries and international bodies will attend tomorrow's conference.
The list is headed by Haitian President Rene Preval and his Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive and former US president and UN special envoy to Haiti William Clinton as well as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Emissaries from the World, the Inter American Development and the Caribbean Development Banks and the International Monetary Fund and representatives of the private sector and of Non-Governmental Organizations will attend the meeting.
