Havana Book Fair to Feature ALBA Bicentennial Collection
The 2011 International Book Fair in Cuba will feature a new assortment of the best history and literature of the continent in the last 200 years, the ALBA Bicentennial Collection.

The 2011 International Book Fair in Cuba will feature a new assortment of the best history and literature of the continent in the last 200 years, the ALBA Bicentennial Collection.
 
  Book fair director Zuleica Romay told reporters that the goal of the collection is to bring readers closer to the literature of the region.
 
From Feb. 10 to 20, the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress will be the main venue for this event, which will bring together writers, intellectuals, artists and publishers from all over.
 
The 2011 fair will be dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the Haitian Revolution and the first declaration of the abolition of slavery.
 
The spotlight will be shined on cultures of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA), comprising Nicaragua, Venezuela, Bolivia, Dominica, Ecuador, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba.
 
More than 500 spaces with book presentations, workshops, exhibitions, professional meetings and musical performances will be open throughout the 10-day fair, which will be extended to 16 other locations on the island.
 
The fair will officially end on March 6 in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
