In the roundtable 'Historical and solidarity relations between Peru and Cuba', held at the Casa del Maestro in the Peruvian capital, participated the historian Antonio Zapata, sociologist Eduardo Arroyo and the Cuban poet Alexis Pausides, and as moderator acted the journalist and president of the organization SoliCuba, Gustavo Espinoza.
Cuba's ambassador in Peru, Sergio Gonzalez, while introducing the speakers, highlighted the program developed in Peru to celebrate the 90th birthday of Fidel Castro, in charge of important social and political organizations.
He noted that the Cuba-Peru relations have been marked by the same rectitude of principles of the foreign policy that Fidel Castro has guided since the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
The sociologist Eduardo Arroyo recalled the role of the leader in the Cuban solidarity with those affected by the devastating earthquake in the Peruvian territory, to whom he donated his blood, an action repeated several times.
He gave an overview of the Peruvian-Cuban relations and the great figures that have shaped it throughout history, as Leoncio Prado and the Foreign Minister Raul Porras, who against the instructions of his government and in defense of the principles of sovereignty and non-intervention, opposed to Cuba being sanctioned in the Organization of American States.
