Delegates to the 9th Internacional Colloquium for the Release of the Cuban Five and against Terrorism, scheduled to end today in eastern Holguin city, urged to step up actions to support the anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US prisons.

Proposals made in the meeting include the efficient use of social networks to commit people around the world to the cause of Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, reported Granma daily newspaper today.

They also highlighted the creation of messages addressing specifically the US people so they can influence President Barack Obama to release these men, judged and given harsh sentences in 1998 for preventing terrorist actions against Cuba.

The Cuban Five, as they are known internationally, were condemned by US courts and given harsh sentences, and only Rene Gonzalez is already in Cuba after serving his sentences and giving up his Us citizenship.

During the event, participants carried out different cultural and sports activities and debates to show solidarity with The Cuban Five.

A final declaration of the 9th Colloquium is expected to be made public in the afternoon today.
