The business world is responding today very well to the efforts being made by Cuba to attract new businesses, as part of updating its economic model, Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, said.
During an interview with Prensa Latina in Buenos Aires, Malmierca said he recently visited some Arab countries, as well as Vietnam, China, Spain and France, "we see everywhere a great interest by business people to learn the guarantees and incentives the Investment Law offers to invest in Cuba."
He stressed the new business project portfolio that promotes as "an instrument to precisely facilitate such opportunities."
The minister, who traveled to Argentina to attend the inauguration of President, Mauricio Macri, took the opportunity to hold a meeting with local businessmen, to whom he presented that package of proposals, to clarify and answer their questions.
He stated that this new portfolio offers 326 projects in 12 sectors of the economy, "and the common denominator is that they all are supported by pre-feasibility studies that do not make empty ideas."
They are analyzed to help that foreign investors have the opportunity to contact with Cuban companies operating in their areas, and expedite the negotiation of those proposals, he said.
The minister stressed that the Cuban government wants to have a diverse economy with relations with all countries worldwide. "We do not want to depend on one market and this is a fundamental policy of the economic updating program the State is promoting," he noted.
Regarding the economic ties between Argentina and Cuba, he first stressed that "they are brother countries of Latin America and the Caribbean," stating that there are between both "much complementarity we must exploit; that is, the potential is large."
