Medical Center Opens in Honduras Thanks to Cuban Support

In the presence of Honduran President Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales, a clinic for comprehensive diagnosis —where eight Cuban doctors are working— was inaugurated in this Central American country.
A group of young Honduran general medicine interns who graduated from Havana’s Latin American Medical School will also be working under the supervision of the Cuban doctors, reported the Granma newspaper.
The diagnosis center will provide services to people from the Ciriboya community, located in the department of Colon. No longer will they have to travel as far as 300 km to find a doctor.
The clinic has a consultation area, dental services, a clinical lab as well as ultrasound and X-ray services. It also has a pharmacy and an emergency ward with four beds.
During the inauguration ceremony, which was also attended by the Cuban ambassador to Honduras, President Zelaya Rosales thanked the Cuban government was for the solidarity with this country and the professional training and human values provided to the young people from several nations who are studying medicine on the island.
