Necessity of Ending Blockade for 25th Occasion

For 25th occasion, Cuba will submit today to the UN approval the draft resolution on the necessity of ending the blockade policy imposed by the United States.
 
Up to now, even when U.S. President Barack Obama has adopted some executive measures, the bulk of that policy of economic, financial and commercial siege is still standing.
 
Hence, the need to bring once again this issue to the United Nations, where Cuba has spent more than two decades of strong global support.
 
Chronology of voting against the U.S. blockade on Cuba
 
1991: Cuba presented for the first time at UN a draft resolution against the blockade; some few days after its presentation, the Cuban delegation withdraws it after taking into account that Washington had exerted great pressure on many countries, including some very economically dependents of the United States and that, nevertheless, intended to vote for the island's document.
 
-1992. For second occasion, the Caribbean nation presented at UN the draft resolution against the economic, financial and commercial blockade applied by the United States. The result of the vote was: 59 for, 3 against, 71 abstained, 46 were absent. The United States, Israel and Romania voted against.
 
-1993. 88 for, 4 against, 57 abstained, 35 were absent. The United States, Israel, Albania and Paraguay voted against.
 
-1994. 101 for, 2 against, 48 abstained, 33 were absent. The United States and Israel voted against.
 
-1995. 117 for, 3 against, 38 abstained, 27 were absent. The United States, Israel and Uzbekistan voted against.
 
-1996. 137 for, 3 against, 25 abstained, 20 were absent. The United States, Israel and Uzbekistan voted against.
