President Barack Obama could use the vote at the United Nations to press the US Congress and get the blockade against Cuba lifted, an expert of the dispute between these countries.
Peter Kornbluh, director of the Cuban Project of the National Security Archive believes that another approval at the UN of the Cuban resolution on the need to end the blockade would favor the aspiration of Obama on this issue.
'I wish the 193 countries in the General Assembly voted for Cuba, including the United States, although I doubt that happens,' he added.
The academic highlighted the systematic triumph of the Cuban proposal at the annual vote on the blockade, but noted that the last two years has been in different circumstances, in a process of communication between the governments.
For Kornbluh, Obama did not have to release the recent executive order to ease trade with Cuba, but he did it anyway, because his interest is to end what Washington calls embargo, despite being a blockade.
The United States maintains that economic war to preasure Cuba since 1962, despite the systematic refusal of the international community, expressed in the annual vote at the UN General Assembly.
