The trial against international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles scheduled for March 1 was postponed by judge Kathleen Cardone, who set a hearing for May 20, Granma daily reported here.
Cardone accepted a request by the federal attorneys of the Department of Justice's Anti-terror Section. For her, the argument was valid, and without providing any explanation established the selection of a jury for May 20.
Meanwhile, Posada and his supporters want to justify his crimes by alleging he was obeying orders by the CIA. The Public Ministry affirms the mentioned links of Posada with the CIA are not relevant for the study of the eleven charges presented, the paper sustains.
That debate serves as pretext for a series of delaying procedures during which Posada Carriles has enjoyed freedom, it stresses.
While the US judicial system supports the confessed terrorist, torturer, and assassin, it has held five Cuban anti-terrorists in US jails since 1998.
Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez, and Rene Gonzalez are serving severe sentences in US prisons for informing on violent actions against Cuba, plotted by US-based terrorist groups.
