Cuban President, Raul Castro sent a message of trust in the recovery work of the Holguin people

in the face of the damage caused by Hurricane Ike.
Raul contacted over the phone Miguel Diaz-Canel, First secretary of the Communist Party in the eastern province to whom he

confided his opinion that the eastern Cuban people will go ahead with their economic activities and other fields after the

passing of the storm.
The Cuban president referred to the damages caused by the hurricane in all the eastern regions. Holguin was one of the most

affected areas, with great losses of housing, power lines, roads and agriculture, fields which must be got ready to recover

immediately.
Among the most damaged are the house roofs in the coastal municipalities of Banes, Gibara, Rafael Freyre, Moa and Mayari, as

well as the power lines.
