According to Granma newspaper, both leaders confirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations between Havana and Beijing and spoke about topics of international interest.

Raul asked the visiting diplomat to pass on greetings to Chinese President Hu Jintao and reiterated Cuba’s willingness to continue strengthening the solid bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The Chinese ambassador to Havana, Liu Yuqin, as well as Yang Wanming and Zhang Yanhui, officials with the Chinese Foreign Ministry, participated in the meeting. Also present were Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and the island’s ambassador to Beijing, Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez.
