Cuban President Raul Castro met on Saturday night with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, who made an official visit to Cuba heading an important delegation as part of bilateral efforts to further develop relations between the two nations.
During the dialogue, Raul and Sechin, who is also the president of the Cuba-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, spoke of topics of common interest relating to bilateral cooperation and also about the current international situation and the world financial crisis.
The Caribbean leader reiterated the gratitude of the Cuban Government and people for Russia’s solidarity and contribution to the recovery efforts underway in Cuba after the great damages caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike last September.
