Cuban President Raul Castro met on Monday with the Vice President of the Russian Federation, Igor Ivanovich Sechin,
who was in Cuba for a working visit heading a delegation of Russian ministers and businesspeople.
The meeting took place in a friendly and congenial atmosphere and both leaders expressed their political willingness to continue increasing bilateral cooperation.
Raul Castro thanked the visitor on behalf of the Cuban people for the humanitarian aid sent by Russia to help the Caribbean nation in the aftermath of the devastation caused nationwide by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Also present in the meeting were Cuban VP Carlos Lage Davila and Government Minister Ricardo Cabrisas as well as the Russian Minister of Energy, Serguei Ivanovich, and Deputy Foreign Minister Serguei Ryabkov.
