Cuba''s President Raul Castro presided over the political-cultural act for the 50th anniversary of the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría (Ispjae), with about 60 000 specialists graduated.
The Cujae (Ciudad Universitaria), as it is known, was founded on December 2, 1964 and is an essential part of the educational work of the Revolution, which began with the literacy campaign and guaranteed access for all to the university, expressed the rector, Alicia Alonso.
During the gala last night, the Cujae delivered several works by Cuban artists Raul Castro and the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
The ceremony was also attended by First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel; and Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés, accompanied by other government representatives.
In the central words of the act the Dean of the Cujae noted that this house of higher education remains a work of the Revolution, noting that just 57 000 520 have graduated engineers and architects.
Alonso added that the classrooms of high center of studies have been on different procedures 25 000 601 graduate professionals.
He stressed the high sense of belonging among students and workers at the institute as well as collective work.
Workers with more than 15 years in the institute received the anniversary seal 50, which is awarded only once, which recognizes his work and his contribution to the development of the university.
