Russian President in Favour of Stronger Economic Bonds with Cuba
Dimitri Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, received Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Felipe Perez Roque this Tuesday, when he expressed his support for stronger commercial bondsbetween the two countries.

Dimitri Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, received Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Felipe Perez Roque this Tuesday, when he expressed his support for stronger commercial bondsbetween the two countries.
"We have to pay attention to the promotion of (mutual) economic and commercial relations," said the Medvedev in his meeting with Perez Roque, as reported the Cuban Foreign Ministry's website.
The Russian President pointed out that in the last decade there was a pause in the bilateral relations, but both nations "left it behind" and now they are keeping "intense friendly encounters".
Medvedev highlighted that Cuba has been, and still is, one of the main Latin American partners of the Eurasian country. He also specified that the two countries cooperate in the international arena, and have similar positions on most of the issues.
He also praised the degree of development of cultural relations, recalling that last October Russian Day was celebrated in Havana, when a Orthodox church was inaugurated.
This Tuesday a Joint Statement was signed by the Cuban Foreign Minister along with his Russian counter part, Seguey V. Lavrov, , which states the development of mutual bonds, and reaffirms the strict following by both countries of the principles of International Law, among other issues.
