Prestigious Cuban orthopedist Rodrigo Alvarez Cambra said in this city that the first solidarity campaign of Arab countries with the island will take place October 1-3 in the Syrian capital.
The president of the Cuban-Arab Friendship Association told the National News Agency that the agenda includes statements on the genocidal economic and financial blockade imposed on the island by the United States almost 50 years ago. The aim is to surrender the Caribbean nation for hungry and diseases.
It will also tackle the case of Cuban Five, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, and Fernando Gonzalez, unfairly imprisoned 11 years ago in US jails.
The island's physician, also director of the "Frank Pais" International Orthopedic and Scientific Complex and president of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, also referred to the Second Cuban-Arab International Medical Congress, starting November 2-6 in Havana.
Cuba has trained hundreds of physicians and experts from Islamic countries, as well as built schools and hospitals in some nations, Alvarez Cambra stated.
