Politicians, intellectuals, trade unionists, diplomats and citizens from different nationalities went today to the Cuban Embassy in Spain to pay tribute to the revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who died last Friday.
From early hours, hundreds of people visited the Cuban Embassy in order to pay tribute to the Cuban leader, and expressed their sympathies in a book of condolences opened in the embassy.
Jose Maria Alvarez, leader of the General Workers' Union, Rebeca Grynspan, Ibero-American Secretary General, and ambassadors from several countries visited the Cuban Embassy.
Leaders of different political parties, representatives of the cultural sector, members of the solidarity movement, Spanish citizens, as well as Latin American and African people who reside in this European country also left messages of sympathy.
Besides expressing their admiration and respect for Fidel in the book of condolences, many of them approached to the Cuban Ambassador to Spain, Eugenio Martinez, in order to express their sadness due to the death of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
'From Fidel we learned in which ways we should fight to get free from exploitation and injustice in Central America,' the Ambassador of El Salvador to Spain, Jorge Palencia, said to Prensa Latina.
'The commander was an example in defending human dignity and the values of solidarity and cooperation,' the diplomat said.
