US Blockade Prevents Cuba from Buying Anesthetics
“In the last 25 years, Cuban anesthesiology has improved in spite of
the fact that the US blockade prevents the country from buying
state-of-the-art products,” said Dr. Humberto Sainz, President of the
Federation of Anesthesiology Societies of Central America and the

“In the last 25 years, Cuban anesthesiology has improved in spite of the fact that the US blockade prevents the country from buying state-of-the-art products,” said Dr. Humberto Sainz, President of the Federation of Anesthesiology Societies of Central America and the Caribbean.
The expert stressed that this absurd policy on many occasions has prevented Cuba from buying anesthetic agents through subsidiaries and suppliers from third and even fourth countries.
Sainz added that Cuba is developing a program of excellence for anesthesiology equipment in a group of hospitals that will have state of the art technology.
Havana’s Convention Center will host the 8th Central American and Caribbean Congress on Anesthesiology and Reanimation and the 4th International Symposium on Pain from October 21-24 with the participation of more than 700 delegates, including 150 from all over the world.
Some of the personalities invited to the event include Canadian Angela Enright, President of the World Federation of Anesthesiology Societies, and Ecuadorian Flavio Veintemillas Sie-Tu, President of the Latin American Confederation of Anesthesiology Societies.
