Venceremos Brigade Demands End of US Blockade

Members of the Venceremos solidarity brigade demanded on Tuesday from the US government the end of the economic blockade imposed on the Island since 1962.
In a press conference in Havana, they ratified their support for the Cuban Revolution, demanded the normalization of diplomatic relations and rejected the travel restrictions imposed on US citizens.
We will continue defying the travel ban until it and the blockade are lifted, said social worker Kathe Karlson.
Californian community leader Tshaka Barrows said that in spite of economic limitations caused by the blockade, the social gains of the Cuban system, including health and education, are more appropriate than those provided to the US population.
"A different world is possible, and though it demands great effort, we are ready to reveal all we have learned here so that people know about Cuba in the United States," said Barrows during a gathering held at the Havana-based International Press Center.
Diego Iniguez, a Political Science graduate, urged the US Administration of Barack Obama to keep his promises to respect the sovereignty of all the nations worldwide.
In this regard, the members of the 40th contingent of the Venceremos Brigade ratified the need to keep pressure on Obama, who can release immediately Fernando Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Antonio Guerrero, the five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US prisons.
The members of the Venceremos Brigade arrived in Cuba on July 20 and will stay in the Island until August 2.
They have visited Granma and Villa Clara provinces. On Saturday, they laid a wreath at the Jose Marti Monument in the Havana-based Central Park.
