The vice president of Angola, Manuel Domingos Vicente, today paid tribute to the Cuban internationalists fallen in his country, while stressing the strong ties of friendship that distinguished relations between the two nations.
As part of the official visit to Cuba, Domingos Vicente laid a wreath at the pantheon of Cuban internationalists fallen in Angola.
He also toured the mausoleum located at Havana's Colon Cemetery, accompanied by Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, among other members of that organization and government officials.
During his visit to the Pantheon, Domingos Vicente held a friendly exchange with the antiterrorist unjustly imprisoned in the United States were, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez, who also have the merit of having fulfilled internationalist mission in Angola.
We could not miss this visit here, said the Angolan vice president to refer gratitude for the support given by Cuba to the preservation of the sovereignty of the African country after independence in 1975.
Highlighting the bonds of brotherhood forged in the struggle for Cuban and Angolan Domingos Vicente vowed for the conservation and strengthening of ties and friendship between the two countries.
In this regard, he said that his visit to the island pursues the aim to take stock of bilateral cooperation and identify ways to increase it.
