Victims of Boca de Sama Terrorist Attack Remembered in Cuba
Hundreds of people gathered in the eastern province of Holguin, in the coastal area of Boca de Sama, to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack that on October 12, 1971, took the lives of two people and injured four others, including two little girls.

Hundreds of people gathered in the eastern province of Holguin, in the coastal area of Boca de Sama, to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack that on October 12, 1971, took the lives of two people and injured four others, including two little girls.
Along with the families of the fallen and witnesses of these shocking events, the participants condemned the counterrevolutionary organizations that promote armed aggressions against Cuba, and the criminals, who currently live in the United States, be brought to justice.
The ceremony, which was attended by municipal and provincial political and government officials, began with the placing of a wreath at the place where militia fighter Ramon Siam fell as he was trying to repel the mercenary attack.
By the end of the ceremony, 82-year-old Josefa Caridad Portelles Tamayo, mother of Ramon Siam, said that she would continue to fight terrorism as long as she has strength.
"I come to this place every year to remember my son, who was killed in the prime of his life – he was only 24 years old," said Tamayo, "At the time, his daughter was only seven months old. She reminds me of him because she resembles him in many ways. He was my only son, and I would have loved to have him by my side in my old age."
Yudirka Siam, his daughter, said that although the terrorists had deprived her of her beloved father, she was proud to be the daughter of a man who did not give up and gave his life to defend others from the enemies of our homeland.
