Vietnam Condemns USA Blockade against Cuba, Backs Cuban 5 Cause
The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association today issued a statement in solidarity with the Cuban people, against the United States (USA) blockade imposed against the island, and in favor of the cause of the Cubans held prisoners in the USA for fighting terrorism.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association today issued a statement in solidarity with the Cuban people, against the United States (USA) blockade imposed against the island, and in favor of the cause of the Cubans held prisoners in the USA for fighting terrorism.
With only few days before the UN General Assembly considers a resolution condemning more than 55 years of hostility of that U.S. policy, the text of the group recalls that during that time the criminal measure has caused the Caribbean country damaged valued at $116.880 billion USD.
The blockade is impeding Cuba's development and violates the rights of its people to health care and education, states the statement, presented during a meeting of representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, academicians, and university students.
The statement says that also that after 16 years of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, and Ramon Labañino unjust imprisonment, the USA government has continued challenging its own laws and international law, violating the human rights of the three who are still in prison and their relatives.
Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, two Cubans heroes that complete the group identified as the Cuban Five, have already returned to their country, after completing their prison sentence.
They were monitoring activities by groups that prepare actions against their country in USA territory when they were arrested.
Prior to the meeting, Cuban ambassador to Vietnam, Herminio Lopez, gave a detail account about his country's efforts in implementing the updating of the economic model, previous UN votings condemning the blockade and the rigged trial against the Cuban Five.
