Awards

The Latin American Students’ Organization, in compliance with the 6th Congress of Latin American Students, awards the Order José Rafael Varona, highest distinction bestowed by the organization upon personalities and organizations in acknowledgement for their relevant merits in the general fight of the peoples against imperialism and its traces of oppression and dominance, and for the complete freedom and national independence, March 19, 1979.

The Ministry of Interior (MININT) awards the Hallmark 20 years of the Security. The distinction is confered by the Major General Sergio del Valle, Minister of Interior, March 26, 1979.

At its Third Congress, the Federation of University Students (FEU in its Spanish-language abbreviation) agrees to bestow Summa Cum Laude for his brilliant trajectory. The event took place In the Universal Hall of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR in its Spanish-language abbreviation) in Havana; under the motto of: “Forging the future and defending the work of the Revolution, honorable commitment of university students”, 10 January 1987.

The Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the Greater University of San Andrés in La Paz, Bolivia, bestowed the degree of Honorary Professor of Juridical and Political Sciences of the aforementioned university, 17 September 1987.

The Greater University of San Simón of Cochabamba of Bolivia bestowed the degree of Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences of said university, 17 September 1987.

Mr. Jose Federico de Carvajal, President of the Spanish Senate, bestowed on him the Gold Medal of the Senate at a ceremony held at the Palace of the Revolution, January 16th, 1988.

The Mongolian Ambassador to Cuba, acting on behalf of the Government of Mongolia, bestowed on him the Sukhe Bator Red Order Merit Medal (Sukhe Bator was a soldier, politician, nationalist leader and hero of the 1921 Mongolian Revolution), March 3, 1988.

The Director General of the Pan American Health Organization (“PAHO”) bestowed on him the Health-for-All and Fight-against-Smoking Medals, April 12, 1988.

In the context of the activities in commemoration of May Day, the Executive Secretary of the Permanent Congress of Trade Union Unity of Latin America bestowed on him the Gold Medal, a decoration awarded by this organization, May 1st, 1988.

The President of Mexico bestowed on him the Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest Mexican decoration, at a ceremony held at the embassy of this sister nation in Havana, November 1, 1988.

The Order “Maximo Gomez” in its First Degree and the Medal of Member Guerrilla of Column no. 1 “Jose Marti” were bestowed on him at the ceremony in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Battle of Guisa, held in the province of Granma, November 29, 1988.
