Members of the Kenyan Foreign Relations Ministry attended a meeting organized by the Cuban embassy in Nairobi to
mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The meeting featured the screening of a documentary called “Hechos, no palabras” (Deeds, Not Words) by Argentinean filmmaker Carolina Silvestre.
Among the participants in the ceremony were members of the Cuba-Kenya Friendship Association, students from several universities of the country and Venezuelan diplomats.
Cuba’s ambassador, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, who delivered the opening words of the meeting, said 50 years after the triumph of the Cuban revolution, the island continues to defend the political system chosen by its people and that it grows stronger in spite of the underdevelopment conditions inherited from the colonial times and the blockade imposed by the U.S.
After the screening of the film, participants highlighted the Cuban achievements from which not only the Cuban people have benefited, but also many other countries that enjoy cooperation programs and projects developed by Cuba for nearly half a century. They agreed that Cuba is an example to be followed for those who struggle for a better society.
Gonzalez Marchante ratified Cuba’s commitment to continue fighting for the countries’ right to self-determination, development, peace and for a fairer international order, so that the motto “All Human Rights for All,” can finally become true.
