Cuban ophthalmology plays a key role in preventing and treating visual infections and blindness in Cuba, said Doctor Capote, who underscored the assistance offered by professionals from the Caribbean nation to several countries of the world. Cuban experts have presented research studies in Asian, African and Latin American nations, which are the result of the work of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro.
Along with its social contribution, the high spirit characterizing Cuban medicine and the technological and scientific impact given by important investment, Cuban ophthalmology has reached the highest level in the world, Doctor Capote told participants at the forum, held at Havana´s Conventions Center.
The specialist described the congress as very fruitful and successful, which was attended by 530 Cuban experts and 67 specialists from 11 countries. During the closing ceremony the Cuban Ophthalmology society granted diplomas to different experts in recognition of their work over the past few years.
