Raul Castro Visits Central Museum of Algerian Army
“This short visit has allowed us to see, with great satisfaction, the heroic history of the Algerian people’s struggle for independence. Once again we feel proud of our mutual friendship and admiration,” Cuban President Raul Castro wrote in the visitors’ book after touring the Central Museum of the Algerian Army.

“This short visit has allowed us to see, with great satisfaction, the heroic history of the Algerian people’s struggle for independence. Once again we feel proud of our mutual friendship and admiration,” Cuban President Raul Castro wrote in the visitors’ book after touring the Central Museum of the Algerian Army.
The Caribbean leader, who is currently on an official visit to this African nation, was welcomed at the museum by its director, Lt. Col. Bouraouia Seraye.
Raul exchanged with specialists for almost two hours and toured the halls that reflect five periods of the Algerian history: prehistory, antiquity, Ottoman, the armed struggle and independence. He was also able to see a collection of personal belongings, photos and documents of Algerian leader Houari Boumediene.
The museum exhibition also includes photos of Fidel Castro during his visits to Algeria and others reflecting the solidarity of the Cuban Revolution with the north-African nation and its struggle for independence from the colonialist oppression and also after its independence in 1962.
Raul is heading the Cuban delegation that will travel to the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, to participate in the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), whose presidency Cuba will hand over to Egypt in this event.
The Cuban delegation is made up of the members of the Political Bureau of Cuba’s Communist Party Ramiro Valdes Menendez, who is also Information Technology and Communications Minister and Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias. The delegation also includes Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers.
Bruno Rodriguez, Cuba’s Foreign Affairs Minister, currently at NAM’s Ministerial Meeting, will join the delegation of his country upon its arrival in Egypt for the Summit.
