The Organization of Solidarity with the People of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) sent a message of support to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who is recovering in Cuba from surgery.

The text of the entity based in this capital highlights the international support for the statesman, operated upon last week to remove malignant cells from his pelvis, in the same area where he had received cancer treatment.

For the OSPAAAL, the solidarity unfolded in recent days with Chavez responds to its commitment to just causes in the planet, as well as its "humanism and unlimited generosity."

The statement of the OSPAAAL - an organization created in 1966 and represented in 46 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America - joins the examples of solidarity towards Chavez from heads of State, parliamentarians, intellectuals, religious leaders, and citizens.

According to recent reports from the Venezuelan government, the president re-elected two months ago with 11 points ahead of his nearest rival, "is in his recovery process, improving daily."
