Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev described the economic, commercial and financial blockade the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years as anachronistic.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev described the economic, commercial and financial blockade the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years as anachronistic.
In an interview with Prensa Latina, the Russian leader also talked about Moscow's strained relations with Washington and particularly, he recognized the implementation of more global discriminatory amendments, such as the belockade on Cuba, a measure doomed to fail.
That is our position on this issue and we will not change it, he said.
In another part of the interview, Medvedev explained the importance that not only Russia but also the United States, two major nuclear powers, have improved their relations, recently affected by unilateral actions by Washington.
He referred to the U.S. stance on disarmament and missile defense.
For Russia, the Barack Obama government's policies and decisions in these areas are against Russia and its nuclear potential, and despite several attempts and more than enough arguments about our reality, the situation is the same, Medvedev said.
Far from achieving the so-called balance, both the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) insist on reassuring us with unconvincing explanations, and this concerns other countries, the Russian prime minister stated.
Medvedev criticized another measure boosted by U.S. Democratic and Republican legislators, the Magnitsky Act, which affects Russian citizens and violates their basic human rights.
