Cuban ambassador to Iran, Vladimir Gonzalez, talked of the intimate friendship between Nelson Mandela and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during a ceremony held today in honor of the South African leader.
After expressing the condolences from the Cuban people and government due to the terrible loss, the diplomat stressed Mandela's legacy to humanity "as a symbol of resistance and struggle for freedom, not only for South Africa but also for all the African peoples and the world."
Mandela is and will always be the undisputable symbol of the defeat of the Apartheid opprobrious regime, the Cuban diplomatic head said at a ceremony, held at the Ivanshams cultural center in Tehran.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ali Janna, officials from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of Tehran, and members of the diplomatic staff attended the ceremony.
