The friendship between Cuba and Vietnam is unique and continues today, despite the distance, US blockade and differences of culture, Ernesto Hernandez Miyares of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), stated today.
In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, Hernandez specified that the solidarity links between the two countries have existed since the liberation war of Vietnam and are indestructible.
On the occasion of the celebration of the annual report of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association (AACV),Hernandez highlighted that the ICAP coordinates the cooperation between the two nations.
Hernandez is the main organizer of solidarity activities and attends to Vietnamese delegations visiting Cuba.
"Vietnam is always beside Cuba, with sincere and invariable expressions of support and solidarity. This has been confirmed by a recent donation of 5,000 tons of rice," he commented.
Hernandez also recalled the founding, in 1963, of the Cuban Solidarity Committee with South Vietnam, which is in charge of the liberation struggle and at the same time, mobilizes solidarity programs throughout Cuba.
From the beginning, the AACV, along with ICAP, have enhanced the ties with Vietnam, which are considered a priority by the Caribbean nation.
The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, has stated that Vietnam is a near and dear to the hearts of all Cubans, a legacy that we must remember and pass on to new generations, said Hernandez.
