ALBA Economic Council Session Fruitful, Says Cuba

The session of the Economic Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) in Quito was fruitful, as we could see the concrete steps being taken by the bloc in the field of regional integration.
Head of the Cuban delegation to the forum, Aurelio Mollineda, told Prensa Latina that the agenda discussed in Quito gives continuity to the mandate of the presidential summit of ALBA to boost exchange among member countries. Mollineda, who is Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade and Investment, extolled the participation of the representatives of all member countries of the bloc, and highlighted the presence in debates of Foreign Ministers Ricardo Patino (Ecuador) and Nicolas Maduro (Venezuela).
The event, called by Head of the Economic Council of ALBA, Ecuadorian economist Diego Borja, discussed the capitalization of the Bank of ALBA, the implementation of the Single Regional Compensation Payment System (SUCRE) and the map of goods, among other issues.
According to Borja, trade among member countries of ALBA might reach one billion USD in transactions through the SUCRE, and progress has been made in the list of products aimed at improving their terms of trade.
