“[…] we must remember that on this day, on an afternoon such as this, the socialist nature of the Revolution was proclaimed. That, we could say, was the first great salvo fired in response to the aggression.”
“One has to resolutely oppose the divisive policies of imperialism in the heart of the Non-Aligned Countries.  And it is necessary to seek formula, so that the benefits of this struggle may reach all under-developed countries.”

"Humanity can be saved, for the empire is enduring a profound crisis. Without crises, no change is possible, without crises, no awareness can be built. A day of crisis can raise the awareness of people to a greater extent than 10 uneventful years, than 10 years without a crisis."

“How well we know the Yankees!  Had we given way one single time to the demands of the imperialists, the Cuban Revolution would not exist.  What has held the imperialists back is the heroism of our people, the price they know they have to pay for an aggression on our country.”
“Never have we even played around with a single principle just to receive favours from imperialism!  And it has been in that spirit and with that awareness that our people have been brought up; in the spirit that other peoples’ causes cannot be sold, that principles cannot be downtrodden, that principles cannot be reviled.”
“The decadent imperialist capitalist system in its phase of neoliberal globalization can no longer offer any solutions for the huge problems facing humanity, which has quadrupled in number in barely a century. That system has no future. It is destroying nature and expanding hunger. Our noble and humane experience in numerous fields will be useful to many peoples in the world.”
“This is highly symbolic because it shows us how crime cannot kill ideas, how crime cannot stop the victorious march of a people; how crime, no matter how monstrous, cannot kill life, and how the life of each one of us does not belong to ourselves, but it belongs to everyone.  We are all part of something that is greater than we are, and that is Homeland, the people; our lives are part of the infinite and immortal life of the Cuban nation and of our revolutionary people.”
The globalized planet Earth changes and transforms our concepts.  Only one reality remains unchanged: the Empire’s network of air, sea, land and space military bases, increasingly more powerful and at the same time more vulnerable. That is the kind of democracy W preaches to APEC.  All bearing the US brand name and patent.
“ […] What has Cuba done to be condemned?  What have the Cuban people done to merit the Declaration of Costa Rica?  Our people have done nothing but break the chains! Our people have done nothing else but fighting for a better future, without hurting any other people or taking anything away from any other people.”

“The prestige of the imperial policy will so crumble that not even its dust will remain. We will systematically denounce and demolish one by one, its hypocrisy and lies. They obviously have absolutely no idea what kinds of people have been forged in these 40 years of Revolution.

Our message will reach all corners of the Earth, and our struggle will serve as an example. The world, ever more ungovernable, will fight until hegemony and the subjugation of peoples become totally unsustainable.”
