Bolivian University Grants Honoris Causa Title to Fidel Castro and Evo Morales

The Public University of El Alto, Bolivia has been bestowed the Doctor Honoris Causa title on Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro and Bolivian President Evo Morales.
During the ceremony, held at the auditorium of the prestigious university, rector Federico Zelada highlighted the work carried out by Fidel Castro and Evo Morales while leading their respective countries, Granma newspaper reports on Saturday.
José Ramón Fernández, VP of Cuban Council of Ministers, received the title on behalf of the Cuban leader.
Also present at the ceremony were several Cuban ministers and Cuba’s ambassador to Bolivia, Rafael Dausá, as well as members of the Bolivian Executive and El Alto Mayor Fanor Nava.
Fernández traveled to Bolivia to participate on Saturday in the declaration of that South American nation as the third country in Latin America to be free of illiteracy, after Cuba (1961) and Venezuela (2005).
The contribution of the Cuban audiovisual program Yo si puedo (Yes I can) played a key role in the teaching of basic literacy to more than 820,000 Bolivians.
