Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa met his counterpart Cristina Fernandez in Buenos Aires on Thursday, continuing on to Cuba, Correa''s executive team said.
The Argentinean President welcomed Correa in a private hearing at the Presidential Residence of Olivos where bilateral issues were discussed.
As he arrived at the small metropolitan airport, Correa said that he trusts President Cristina Fernandez because he knows how she thinks and feels.
"We completely trust Cristina Fernandez and if she had been President of Ecuador when Texaco - currently Chevron - destroyed the Ecuadorian forest, that would have never happened," Correa said.
"That is why we completely support Cristina's government," Correa said, referring to an agreement signed by the Argentinean oil company YPF and the U.S. company Chevron.
The government press office said that Correa travelled to Argentina to attend the 25th Inter-American Scouting Conference being held in Buenos Aires, showing his strong encouragement for youth movements.
The conference, taking place from September 16th to 21st, is intended to encourage and support the effective participation of youth in regional and national decision-making processes.
