Cuban Justice Minister, Maria Esther Reus, who is on an official visit to Beijing today, has held meetings with her Chinese counterparts to confirm the strengthening of ties of cooperation and to exchange experiences in legal matters between the two countries.
The official who presides over the legal group in the Committee on the Guidelines Development and Implementation Commission adopted by the Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, was received by her Chinese peer, Wu Aiying.
During a meeting in the capital, the ministers talked about the excellent state of the relationships between Cuba and China, as well as the existing capacity to increase cooperation on legal issues for the development of the two territories, with their own characteristics but united for a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
In the meeting, which was also attended by the Cuban consul, Tania Velazquez, Reus and Wu recalled the visit the latter carried out to the Caribbean nation in 2010. At that time, a cooperation agreement between the two Ministries of Justice was signed.
The Cuban minister also held fruitful meetings with Chinese party leaders: Meng Jianzhu, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs at the National People's Congress and the vice presidents of the Supreme People's Court and the Chinese Law Society.
The Cuban visitor expects to meet with Qiao Xiaoyang, chairman of the Legal Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in the next few days, as well as with the Attorney General, Cao Jianming.
