The 6th International Kolibri Festival of Audiovisual Productions for Children and Adolescents will begin in La Paz today, with the participation of 92 works from 14 countries, and Cuba as an honorary guest.
The Cuban Film Institute will present a special exhibition of their production for children and young people produced in the island during 52 years of audiovisual work.
The festival will choose the best productions made by children and for children, and has a space to show works sent by minors from different countries.
As every year, the Kolibri features a selection of the best of television programming in the world in a traveling suitcase, which is chosen by the Prix Jeunesse Festival in Germany, the most prestigious one internationally.
Kolibri emerged in 2007 to promote and disseminate quality audiovisual production for children, and to face the shortage of programs that promote education and recreation for children.
This meeting will include two juries, one composed of children, and a second one by specialists and/or Bolivian and international filmmakers.
Kolibri awards the best documentary, best television series, best animation, fiction and best performance made by children.
For this 6th edition, works from 14 countries, among them Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, Mexico, Switzerland, and Cuba, were submitted.
The Festival's objectives are to inform, educate, and entertain children and adolescents through quality films.
