With a pilgrimage to his tomb in the mountainous municipality of Tercer Frente and an artistic show in Heredia Theater, Cubans celebrate today the 90th birthday of Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida.
The Cuban leader, who died in September 2009, left in this city, to which he was directly linked for many years, a wake of admiration and affection that survives between those who knew him and worked alongside him, as well as in the economic and social works that were born with his support.
As part of the homage to the legendary fighter, artists from Santiago de Cuba and workers of Siboney Studios, of the Company of Recordings and Musical Editions of Cuba (EGREM), created by him in the effort for the promotion of Cuban music, from which he was notable for his more than 300 compositions in different genres, evoked his imprint.
