El Salvador Opens Bio-fertilizer Plant in Cooperation with Cuba
The first bio-fertilizer plant in El Salvador, built in collaboration with Cuban scientists, was opened yesterday by Vice President Salvador Sanchez Ceren, in La Palma municipality, about 80 kilometers from the capital.

The first bio-fertilizer plant in El Salvador, built in collaboration with Cuban scientists, was opened yesterday by Vice President Salvador Sanchez Ceren, in La Palma municipality, about 80 kilometers from the capital.
"The Cuban and Salvadorian people have shared knowledge, wisdom, because knowledge is not the property of the people, but humanity, and that is what the Cuban government has shown," the Salvadoran vice president said.
The bio-fertilizer plant, first of its kind in the country, is located in El Molino village, El Gramal district, Chalatenango department. It main objectives is to positively influence in crop yields and get healthy products for human consumption.
The project also had the collaboration of the Tri-national Trifinio Plan Commission, a proposal among El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. It seeks to protect natural resources and generate a harmonious interaction with natural resources.
Sanchez Ceren said the project complies with the commitments acquired by El Salvador on sustainable development in the region, with the title of Fraternity Trifinio Biosphere Reserve, granted by the International Coordinating Council of the Program on Man and Biosphere at the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
The Salvadoran vice president stressed the importance of replacing utilitarian and predatory policies that can organize social and economic relations focused on gender, equity, justice, preserving natural processes and biodiversity, and thus contributing to the ecological balance.
