The charismatic Colombian singer Juanes thanked the Cubans this Monday for giving him the opportunity to meet them and for sending together with him a message of peace out to humankind.
A little before leaving Cuba Monday morning from Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, Juanes confirmed that according to several internet website, the Peace without Borders concert held in Cuba on Sunday was the third greatest concert in the history of music.
The Colombian singer, the main promoter of the event, was still visibly excited for the show for which more than one million people gathered at the Revolution Square, the venue of other transcendental events in Cuba.
Juanes told the press that the concert was an achievement not only for Cuba but for the rest of the nations in the region and wished that it helps the world open to Cuba and the island to the world.
He also said that a permanent group of artists emerges from these concerts and that other representatives of the universal culture join them in their efforts in favor of peace for all humankind.
According to Juanes, Havana’s performance closed a cycle in his artistic career because he had learned to play the guitar with Silvio Rodriguez’ songs and now he could share the stage with him. He said he will continue promoting Silvio’s songs in his future performances.
He said that Havana’s concert was a unique and unrepeatable experience in his life that he will treasure forever and that he will place a photo hugging Silvio and Amaury (Perez) in the living room of his home.
Juanes said he hopes to return to Cuba for other performances, and that he is thinking on developing other projects with Cuban musicians like Silvio and X Alfonso, among others.
